Let`s stop minimising parents worries

It`s all too common to see and hear replies to worried parents reaching out and seeking information about their toddlers talking, particularly on social media platforms. Replies such as "they are only young", "wait and see", "they will catch up", "I wouldn't worry yet".

Every child is unique and has their own journey to follow. However, if you are worried or know someone who is worried about their child`s language or communication development. I ALWAYS urge you, to trust your instincts as a parent. You know your child best,  trust your gut feeling.

Even if it is about seeking reassurance or getting more informed so you can make the right choices, its really important to find professionals who have the evidence based knowledge & who also honour and listen to your concerns. So you can make the right choices for your child.

As a community of parents and professionals. We need to make a conscious shift in the comments we make to worried parents. Moving away from comments  such as "lets wait and see" and " I wouldn't worry yet" to recognising and acknowledging concerns with responses such as "lets explore your concerns together" and  "how can I help you find the information you need?"

We can never be too proactive or early in accessing early intervention support for our children.

Please if you are worried, if something doesn't feel quite right and you are worried about your child`s communication or your not sure how to best support them. Please reach out and get support.

I offer support to parents, to help you feel more confident in boosting your toddler`s talking in your everyday moments and routines.
